Fireboy and Watergirl 2: The Light Temple is a cooperative puzzle-platformer that challenges you to guide two elemental characters through a maze-like sanctuary filled with ancient mechanisms. A typical level plays out as a slow, deliberate puzzle of movement and timing. Fireboy must navigate around pools of water, while Watergirl has to avoid red-hot lava. Both characters are instantly defeated by green toxic sludge. To clear a stage, you will direct light beams onto sensor pads using sliding mirror blocks, holding open doors so the character can slip through to the next section. Gathering matching red and blue diamonds along the way adds a layer of pathfinding optimization to each run.

• Plan for Element Hazards: Remember that Fireboy can walk across lava but dies instantly in water, while Watergirl moves freely through water but perishes in lava. Look ahead at the hazards on each level to decide who should take the lead.
• Adjust Mirror Heights: Many levels require you to push mirror blocks onto elevating platforms. Make sure to adjust the lift height carefully to align the reflected light beam precisely with the target sensor.
• Coordinate Buttons and Gates: Some gates only remain open while a button is actively held down. Work out which character needs to stay behind to hold a gate open, or search for a movable box to place on the button.
