Age of War is a legendary base defense and strategy game where you must guide your civilization through time while destroying your opponent's base. Starting in the primitive Stone Age, you earn experience and gold by defeating enemies, allowing you to train stronger units and eventually evolve into advanced eras like the Castle Age, Modern Age, and beyond. The game is an addictive balancing act between spending resources to defend your base and saving up to unlock the next technological leap before your enemy does.
Every era provides a unique cast of units and a specialized turret for your base, alongside a devastating special attack. Whether you are raining meteors on enemy clubmen or sending laser-wielding futuristic super-soldiers to crush a tank, the gameplay keeps you constantly engaged as you adapt to the escalating war.
How to Play
The entire game is played using the mouse. Click the icons in the upper-right corner to recruit units, build defensive turrets, or unleash your special attack. As you gain enough experience points (XP) from slain enemies, click the star icon to evolve your civilization to the next age.
Strategies
- Patience pays off: Don't spend all your gold constantly sending out cheap units. Build a solid turret or two, let the enemy come to you, and save your gold to afford powerful units or essential evolutions.
- Evolve quickly: A higher age provides a massive statistical advantage. If you can reach the Castle Age or Modern Age before your opponent, your advanced units will easily trample their outdated soldiers.
- Save special attacks: Your special attack takes time to recharge. Hold onto it until a large wave of enemy units is threatening your base, then wipe them out to instantly gain a huge burst of XP and gold.
A classic title that defined early browser gaming, Age of War remains a must-play for anyone who enjoys quick, tactical tug-of-war battles.
