Touchdowners is a fast-paced, physics-based American football game that strips the sport down to its most chaotic and entertaining elements. You control a team of three ragdoll athletes whose limbs swing wildly as they attempt to run, jump, and grab the ball. The objective is deceptively simple: secure possession of the football, navigate across the field, and touch the ball down inside your opponent's end zone to score. With highly unpredictable physics governing every movement, match-ups quickly devolve into a hilarious frenzy of tumbling players and unexpected fumbles.
Whether you are facing off against the computer or challenging a friend in local two-player mode, each match feels distinct and full of surprises. You will need to carefully time your jumps and passes to bypass defenders who are constantly bouncing and diving in your path. The game runs directly in your web browser with no installations required, making it perfect for quick, fun gaming sessions.
Controls
Touchdowners features a simple yet challenging three-button control scheme. You can play solo or against a friend on the same keyboard:
Single Player Mode
- Left / Right Arrow Keys: Move and rotate your players left or right.
- Z Key: Pass the ball forward to a teammate.
Local 2-Player Mode
- Player 1: Use Z to move left, X to move right, and C to pass.
- Player 2: Use the Left Arrow to move left, Right Arrow to move right, and M to pass.
Mobile / Touch Devices
- Tap the on-screen directional arrow buttons to move your team and the throw button to pass.
Tips for Success
- Master the Jump and Spin: Because your players spin their arms and legs to jump forward, wait for your lead player's arms to rotate backward before pushing the direction key to get a massive forward leap.
- Keep Your Distance: Avoid bunching all three players together. If you lose the ball, having a player positioned further back ensures you still have a defender to stop a runaway touchdown.
- Throw Ahead: Use the pass button to toss the ball over defenders' heads to teammates downfield rather than trying to run through a crowd.
This wacky sports arcade game is ideal for anyone looking for quick multiplayer matches or those who enjoy humorous physics engines. It is easy to pick up but offers plenty of room to develop passing tactics and movement control.
