Tag by JetGames is a chaotic local multiplayer platforming game that brings the classic schoolyard game of chase onto a single screen. Designed for two to four players sharing one keyboard, the game challenges you and your friends to jump, run, and dodge across dynamic levels to avoid being the chaser when the countdown ends. The fast-paced action relies on quick reflexes and environmental awareness, making it an excellent choice for a friendly couch gaming session.
Each round starts with one player randomly selected as 'It' (the chaser). The chaser's objective is to physically touch any of the players to transfer the role to them. Meanwhile, the players must run away, climb platform layouts, and use the map's interactive features to stay out of reach. When the round timer hits zero, the player designated as 'It' loses the game, forcing everyone to scramble constantly until the final second.
Controls
Since Tag is built for local multiplayer, up to four players can play simultaneously on the same keyboard. The default controls are as follows:
- Player 1: Use W to jump, and A / D to move left and right.
- Player 2: Use the Up Arrow to jump, and Left Arrow / Right Arrow to move left and right.
- Player 3: Use I to jump, and J / L to move left and right.
- Player 4: Use T to jump, and F / H to move left and right.
The game also features full support for gamepad controllers if players prefer to use them instead of sharing the keyboard.
Tips
- Leverage the Environment: Every arena is packed with useful structures. Step on bounce pads and trampolines to vault to higher platforms, or jump into portals to instantly teleport to the opposite side of the map to lose a pursuer.
- Master Wall Jumping: You can slide down vertical walls and jump off them to change direction rapidly. Use wall jumps to climb high structures quickly or to escape tight corners when backed into a dead end.
- Enable Buffs for Extra Chaos: Before starting a match, check the settings to toggle optional buffs. These introduce temporary power-ups that alter player speeds and jump heights, shaking up the dynamic of the chase.
- Watch the Timer: Don't play too aggressively if you aren't the chaser. However, as the timer winds down, the pressure rises—keep an eye on the clock and position yourself near escape routes to avoid a last-second capture.
