About Super Hot

SUPERHOT takes the core of a first-person shooter and completely strips out the need for twitch reflexes, replacing them with a system where time only moves when you move. Every step you take, every turn of the camera, and every shot you fire speeds up the clock. If you stand completely still, the world around you freezes, giving you the breathing room to assess threats, dodge incoming bullets, and line up the perfect shot.

You find yourself in stark, minimalist white environments fighting against glowing red crystalline enemies that shatter satisfyingly into pieces when hit. Because a single bullet means death, the experience feels more like a strategic puzzle game than a traditional action title. You will find yourself carefully stepping between slow-motion projectiles, disarming enemies by throwing objects, and stealing their weapons mid-air in a beautifully choreographed dance of destruction.

Controls

  • WASD: Move around the environment (which also advances time)
  • Mouse: Look around and aim
  • Left Click: Fire weapon or throw the held object
  • Right Click: Throw held object (can disarm enemies)
  • Spacebar: Jump

Tips

  • Stop to think: The biggest mistake new players make is constantly moving. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, take your hands off the keyboard and stop moving the mouse. Time will freeze, letting you plan your next sequence of actions.
  • Throw everything: If you run out of bullets, you can throw your empty gun at an enemy. This will stun them and force them to drop their weapon, which you can then snatch out of the air. Anything from ashtrays to billiard balls can be used as a weapon.
  • Watch bullet trails: Bullets leave thick red trails through the air. Always keep an eye on these trails to know exactly where you need to step to squeeze between the crossfire without getting hit.

Super Hot FAQ

Does time completely stop in SUPERHOT?
Time doesn't completely freeze when you stand still; it slows down to a near-halt. You still need to be mindful of incoming bullets, as they will inch closer even if you aren't moving.
Can I play SUPERHOT without a VR headset?
Yes, this version is the standard browser or flat-screen edition of the game. While SUPERHOT VR is a popular standalone title, the original game is fully playable with a standard keyboard and mouse.
What happens when you run out of ammo?
Guns in this game cannot be reloaded. When your weapon clicks empty, you must throw it at an enemy to disarm them or find another weapon lying around the environment.
