About Noob Hook

Noob Hook is a browser platformer that swaps running and jumping for swinging. You play a blocky, Minecraft-styled noob who fires a grappling hook at anchor points overhead and rides the swing across gaps, spikes and drops toward a finish line. There's no jump button to fall back on — every bit of forward motion comes from how well you read the arc of your last swing.

Levels are short and restarts are instant, so a swing that comes up just short costs you seconds, not a wasted attempt. Coins scattered along the way unlock different skins for your character, giving you a reason to replay a level you've already cleared instead of just moving straight on to the next one.

Controls

Everything runs through one input: click and hold, or touch and hold on mobile, to aim the hook, then release to fire it and swing. There's no separate jump key — steering is entirely about when you let go.

Tips

  • Release near the bottom of a swing rather than the top. That's when your momentum is pointed forward instead of straight down, so you carry more speed into the next hook.
  • Aim a little ahead of your next anchor point instead of straight up — the arc will naturally carry you toward it instead of leaving you short.
  • If a swing is clearly going to come up short, let it fail and restart rather than trying to save it. Levels reset almost instantly, so a quick retry costs less time than fighting bad momentum.

It suits short sessions more than a long sit-down — something to poke at for five or ten minutes, or to keep retrying until you can clear a level without a single wasted swing.

Noob Hook FAQ

What are the controls in Noob Hook?
You don't need a keyboard. Click and hold, or touch and hold on mobile, to aim the grappling hook, then release to fire it and swing. Timing your release controls your momentum.
Can I play Noob Hook on mobile?
Yes. The game responds to touch the same way it responds to a mouse, so aiming and releasing the hook works the same on a phone or tablet as it does on desktop.
What do the coins do?
Coins scattered through the levels unlock different skins for your character. They don't change the physics or the levels themselves, so picking them up is entirely optional.
