Wordle is a daily word-guessing puzzle that gives you exactly six chances to find a hidden five-letter word. You start with a completely blank grid, typing in any valid five-letter word to begin. The game relies entirely on deduction, rewarding players who carefully consider which letters to test and which to eliminate early on.
After you submit a guess, the tiles change color to reveal how close you are to the answer. The pace is entirely up to you—some players rush to solve it in minutes, while others stare at the grid over their morning coffee. Because there is only one puzzle released each day and everyone gets the exact same word, solving it has become a shared ritual for puzzle fans everywhere.
Controls
You can play entirely with your keyboard or by clicking the on-screen letter layout:
- Type letters to fill out your current guess.
- Enter submits the word to check its accuracy.
- Backspace deletes the last letter if you make a mistake before submitting.
Tips
- Open with a word that checks multiple vowels and common consonants. "STARE," "ROAST," and "AUDIO" are solid choices that quickly narrow down the possibilities.
- Do not reuse gray letters. If you know a letter isn't in the word, avoid guessing any new word that includes it, as it simply wastes one of your precious attempts.
- Watch out for double letters. Just because you found one 'E' doesn't mean there can't be a second one hiding in the answer. Words like "SWEET" or "CHILL" often trip up experienced players.
