Two Neon Boxes is a minimalist, split-screen puzzle platformer that challenges your coordination and mental focus. In this game, you control two separate glowing square boxes simultaneously, guiding them through a series of obstacle-filled corridors. The goal is to safely navigate both boxes to their respective exit portals without letting either one hit spikes, fall off the screen, or collide with moving hazards.
The core gameplay centers on multitasking and spatial awareness. Since both boxes must move and jump in their own separate halves of the screen, you cannot focus on just one. Every jump must be calculated carefully, as moving one box forward might inadvertently plunge the into a pit of spikes. The game features an instant-respawn loop, allowing you to jump right back into the action after a failure, which helps you learn track patterns through trial and error.
Controls
You can steer and jump each box independently using different sets of keys on your keyboard:
- First Box (Left/Blue): Use the W, A, S, D keys to move and jump.
- Second Box (Right/Pink): Use the Arrow keys to move and jump.
Tips for Survival
- Focus on the Midpoint: Avoid staring directly at only one of the boxes. Keep your eyes centered on the middle divider line of the screen, using your peripheral vision to track both boxes and spot incoming hazards early.
- Stagger Your Jumps: You do not always have to jump both boxes at the exact same moment. If one side has a safe platform, let that box sit idle while you focus on navigating the box over a tricky obstacle.
- Learn the Level Layout: Because the levels are fixed, memorizing the rhythm and spacing of the obstacles is key. Take advantage of the instant respawns to practice and timing each movement.
