Total Recoil turns "shoot" and "jump" into the same button. Fire at a robot coming in from one side and the recoil launches you the way — which is also how you dodge the spikes, missiles and sawblades trying to end your run. There's no reticle to aim and no separate dodge key; you're reading the lane, picking a side, and firing on rhythm to stay alive.
Each stage throws a fresh wave at you, and the pressure builds as robots start walking, jumping or flying in to fire beams of their own. Clear one wave and the next starts before you've caught your breath — it's a game about staying calm under a screen full of incoming fire, not memorizing a set layout.
Controls
Left/Right arrow keys shoot and recoil-jump in that direction on desktop; tap the left or right side of the screen to do the same on mobile. Every shot is also your dodge, so there's nothing else to press.
Tips
- Fire into empty space when nothing's incoming — the recoil still repositions you, and that's often the only way to dodge a threat approaching from the side you're already facing.
- Collect the coins that drop from downed robots and rockets; they unlock new characters that make later waves easier to survive.
- Don't fixate on one side of the screen — flying robots and missiles can arrive from either direction, so glance both ways between shots.
Clearing enough stages also unlocks a Survival Mode for endless runs, so it suits both a quick round on a break and a longer session chasing a high score.
