About Short Life

Short Life is a brutal, physics-based platformer where survival is the only goal. You control a fragile stick figure navigating a gauntlet of lethal hazards—from swinging blades and landmines to explosive barrels and massive crushers. Movement is intentionally sluggish and tied to ragdoll physics, meaning every misstep can result in a gory, limb-tearing death. The challenge lies in carefully timing your movements rather than rushing forward.

As you progress, the obstacle courses become more intricate, requiring precise momentum to clear jumps and slide under low-hanging traps. Each death is a messy lesson in trial and error, encouraging you to observe trap patterns before making a run for the finish line. Earning stars depends on completing the level in one piece.

Controls

  • A / D or Left / Right Arrows: Move character
  • W or Up Arrow: Jump
  • S or Down Arrow: Crouch or crawl
  • Spacebar: Interact / Use
  • R: Restart the current level

Tips

  • Crawl to survive: You can crawl continuously by holding the down arrow. It is the safest way to bypass arrow traps and low ceiling crushers.
  • Momentum matters: Your jump distance depends on how fast you are moving. Get a running start before attempting wide gaps.
  • Pause and observe: Traps operate on cycles. Stand safely out of range and watch the timing of pendulums and spikes before moving.
