About Grow Rpg

Grow RPG is a point-and-click puzzle game by Eyezmaze, the studio run by Japanese developer On Nakayama, and it's part of the long-running GROW series. Instead of controlling a character directly, you take turns placing single objects — a tree, a house, a block of stone, a chest, a patch of water — into a small floating world, one at a time.

The twist is that the order you place things in matters. Each new object changes how the ones already on the board behave: houses and trees start generating wood that pieces can use to level up faster, and eventually your kingdom has to fend off an invading demon and its minions. Placing everything in the right sequence leads to a good ending; getting the order wrong still plays out, just worse, so working out the "correct" order through trial and error is the entire game.

Controls

Drag an object with the left mouse button to the center of the world to place it. That's the whole control scheme — there's no keyboard input.

Tips

  • Place trees and houses early — they generate the wood that objects need to reach their strongest level before the demon shows up.
  • Watch what changes after each placement before adding the next one; the puzzle is figuring out cause and effect, not placing things quickly.
  • A bad ending isn't a dead end — replaying with a different order is how you're meant to solve it.

It suits players who like short, replayable puzzles built around experimentation rather than reflexes — the kind of game you finish, immediately see what you'd do differently, and start again.

Grow Rpg FAQ

How do you play Grow RPG?
Each turn you drag one object onto the world with the left mouse button. The order you place objects in determines how the story and ending play out, so the game is about working out the right sequence.
What happens if I place objects in the wrong order?
The game still plays through to an ending, just a weaker one. Nothing is lost by experimenting — you can replay and try a different order right away.
What are the controls?
Mouse only: click and drag an object to the center of the world to place it. There's no keyboard control.
Is Grow RPG part of a series?
Yes. It's one of the GROW games made by Eyezmaze (developer On Nakayama), which all use the same place-things-in-the-right-order puzzle format.
