Checkers Game

Checkers is the timeless strategy board game where you outmaneuver your opponent on an 8x8 grid. Playing with dark or light pieces, the objective is to capture all the enemy's pieces or block them from making any legal moves. Since jumping is mandatory, you have to carefully plan each move, as leaving a piece vulnerable can lead to a cascading chain of jumps by your opponent.

The pacing is entirely up to you, shifting between careful board positioning and sudden, aggressive exchanges. Reaching the farthest row on the opposite side crowns your piece a King, granting it the powerful ability to move both backward and forward. It takes minutes to learn the core rules but years to fully master the deeper strategies of positioning and sacrifices.

Controls

You can play easily using just your mouse or touch screen. Click or tap the piece you want to move, and then select the valid highlighted diagonal square. To capture, you just need to jump over an adjacent opponent's piece into an empty space.

Tips

• Protect your back row: Keep your rearmost pieces in place as long as possible. This denies your opponent the chance to crown their pieces into Kings.
• Control the center: Occupying the central squares gives your pieces more mobility and better angles for setting up multi-jumps.
• Force captures: Because you must jump if a capture is available, you can sacrifice one of your own pieces to force the opponent into a trap.
