Ooze Odyssey is a small, sharp puzzle game from solo developer FeatureKreep, built with the Construct engine and clearly inspired by Snakebird. You control a squishy ooze creature that slithers across a grid, and every level is a tight little logic problem: reach and eat the fruit scattered around the room, then get your whole body to the exit without falling off the world.
The catch is that your ooze isn't a single dot but a growing chain of segments. Each fruit you eat makes you longer, which opens up new routes but also makes you harder to steer through cramped spaces. A lot of the challenge is figuring out the order to eat things in, and using your own trailing body as a bridge, counterweight, or plug for a gap. It's a slow, thinky kind of game rather than a reflex one — most levels reward staring at the layout for a minute before you touch a key.
Controls
WASD or the arrow keys move your ooze. R restarts the current level instantly, which you'll use often since a bad move usually means starting the puzzle over rather than undoing it. The mouse handles menus and anything outside of movement.
Tips
- If a level looks impossible, you're probably missing a fruit — the extra length is usually the exact piece you need to bridge the gap you're stuck on.
- Don't always eat the closest fruit first. The order you grow in changes which parts of your body end up where, and getting it wrong can trap you.
- Hit R the moment a move goes wrong. Untangling a snagged ooze by hand almost always takes longer than just restarting.
There are 32 levels in total, six kinds of fruit, and eight cosmetic skins to unlock along the way, plus a built-in level builder if you want to make your own puzzles once you've cleared the official set. It's a good fit for anyone who liked Snakebird or similar grid-logic puzzlers and wants a short, no-reflexes brain teaser to chip away at.
