Driftwave is a browser drifting game built around one skill: sliding a low-poly car sideways through a turn without losing your line. Each stage is a short, twisting track set against an icy, colorful landscape, and a clean run is over in well under a minute if you thread every corner without clipping a wall.
You don't brake and accelerate the way you would in a normal racer — the car keeps moving forward on its own, and your job is steering it through drift after drift, using the shape of your drag to control how sharp the slide is. Blow a corner or clip an obstacle and you lose your run's momentum, so most of the challenge is learning a track's rhythm rather than reacting to any single turn.
Controls
Swipe forward to start the run. Click or touch and drag anywhere on the screen to drift — the longer the drag, the sharper the turn. Quick swipes snap the car into a fast turn for tight corners.
Tips
- Start a drift a beat before the corner, not on top of it — starting late carries you straight into the wall.
- Short drags give a gentle slide for sweeping bends; save the long drags for hairpins.
- Try the different cars in the garage — each one turns a little differently, so pick one that matches how sharply you like to cut a corner.
Driftwave was JamieRowan x RowanFuture's first release on Poki. It plays straight in the browser with nothing to install, which makes it a good pick for a few quick runs and a personal best to chase.
