Castle Pals is a retro-styled platformer built around two mismatched heroes. Kylee fights her way through with punches and ninja kicks, while Owen relies on a propeller hat to hop and glide over gaps and spike pits his partner can't cross. You switch between the pair inside each level, picking whichever one's strengths match the obstacle in front of you.
Stages are short and built for replaying. A room rarely takes more than a minute to clear once you've learned its layout, but clearing it fast enough for a gold medal is a separate challenge — fireballs, goblins and traps are placed to punish hesitation, and most of them end your run in a single hit.
Controls
- Arrow keys – move and jump
- Z – attack
Tips
- Switch characters before you reach an obstacle, not after. Owen clears spike pits and drops that stop Kylee cold, and Kylee is the only one who can punch through a goblin blocking a doorway.
- Learn a room at a safe pace on your first try. Go back and chase the gold-medal time once you already know where the hazards are.
- Almost everything kills in one hit, so treat a new obstacle as something to memorize rather than push through.
It suits short sessions well — a level or two on a break, since every stage is compact and instantly replayable.
