Tag 2 puts you in a small arena with a handful of players and one simple rule: whoever is "it" has to catch someone else before the clock runs out, and whoever gets caught takes over as the tagger. There's no score to chase and no levels to clear — just quick, physical rounds of chasing and dodging that reset every time someone gets tagged.
Rounds move fast because the maps are small and full of shortcuts. Bounce pads launch you across gaps or straight over a chasing player's head, and teleporters can drop you back into the middle of the action just as you thought you'd escaped. Reading the map and using its shortcuts well matters more than raw speed.
Controls
Move with the keyboard and jump to use bounce pads and reach higher platforms. Since it's built for local matches, each player on the same keyboard typically gets their own set of movement keys.
Tips
- Don't run in a straight line when you're being chased — cutting toward a bounce pad or teleporter breaks the tagger's line of approach.
- If you're "it," cut off shortcuts instead of chasing directly; players who rely on the same bounce pad every time become predictable.
- Watch where a teleporter drops before using it — landing blind next to the tagger undoes the escape.
It's best played in short bursts with friends on the same screen, or solo against online opponents when you just want a quick, low-stakes round.
