Hangman is the classic pencil-and-paper word-guessing game where you try to figure out a hidden word one letter at a time. The game presents you with a series of blank spaces representing the letters of the secret word, and you must call out letters you think might be part of it. Each correct guess fills in the corresponding blanks, helping you piece together the answer.
However, every incorrect guess brings you one step closer to losing. A piece of a stick figure is drawn for each wrong letter chosen. If the drawing is fully completed before you guess the word, the game is over. It's a simple but engaging test of vocabulary and deduction that forces you to carefully weigh the risk of each guess against the clues you already have.
Controls
- Keyboard: Type the letter you want to guess.
- Mouse: Click on the letter buttons on the screen.
Tips
- Start with vowels: E, A, and O are the most common letters in English words. Getting the vowels placed early makes recognizing the word much easier.
- Use common consonants: After trying a few vowels, letters like R, S, T, L, and N are your best bets for revealing the structure of the word.
- Look for common endings: If you see blanks that could form "-ING", "-ED", or "-TION", guessing those letters can quickly uncover a large part of the puzzle.
