Free Mahjong is a relaxing yet deceptively challenging tile-matching puzzle game based on the classic Chinese solitaire format. The board presents you with a massive pyramid of 144 intricately designed tiles, stacked in the traditional turtle layout. Your objective is straightforward: find pairs of matching tiles and remove them all from the board, piece by piece, until nothing is left.
The catch is that you can only select "free" tiles—those with no tile sitting on top of them and at least one lateral side fully exposed. It forces you to carefully unpick the edges and top layers of the pile rather than just grabbing any matching pair you spot. Because a single wrong match can trap the tiles you need later, the pacing naturally shifts between quick, satisfying combinations and moments of slow, deliberate planning.
Controls
- Left Click / Tap: Select a tile. Click a matching free tile to remove both.
- Undo / Hint: On-screen buttons allow you to highlight available pairs or reverse your last move if you get stuck.
Tips
- Always prioritize removing tiles that block the most underneath them. Peeling away the top layers and the long horizontal rows should be your primary focus.
- If you have three identical free tiles available on the board, check what they are covering before choosing which two to match. Leave the one that covers the least important tiles.
- Don't rush. Since there is no time limit, scanning the whole board before making a move prevents the dead-ends that come from hasty clicking.
