Fortz is a hectic two-player, local multiplayer arcade game where you compete to demolish your opponent’s fortress. Set in retro-style 2D arenas, each player commands a stone fort equipped with a powerful turret. Your goal is to aim your cannon, fire at the enemy's walls, and try to wipe out the opposing character before they do the same to you.
What makes matches chaotic is the active balance between offense and defense. You can't just spam shots; you must carefully monitor your ammo meter and pause to reload, which leaves you temporarily vulnerable. Meanwhile, you can run around your fort to pick up falling blocks, repair your damaged walls, or grab special power-ups like airstrikes, robots, and dogs dropped by passing spaceships.
Controls
Fortz is designed for two players to share a single keyboard:
Player 1 (Left Side)
- A, D: Move left and right
- W: Jump (or aim turret up while inside the cannon)
- S: Place a block (or aim turret down while inside the cannon)
- D: Shoot (while inside the cannon)
Player 2 (Right Side)
- Left, Right Arrows: Move left and right
- Up Arrow: Jump (or aim turret up while inside the cannon)
- Down Arrow: Place a block (or aim turret down while inside the cannon)
- Left Arrow: Shoot (while inside the cannon)
Tips for Battle
- Watch the Ammo Meter: Your cannon cannot fire when empty. Always check your opponent's ammo bar; if they are reloading, that is your cue to push or rebuild.
- Grab the Air Drops: Keep an eye out for spaceships flying overhead. The power-ups they drop—such as dogs, robots, or airstrikes—can easily turn the tide of a match if collected quickly.
- Target Weak Structures: Instead of blasting away at thick stone walls, look for the load-bearing blocks of the enemy fort. Destroying these can cause the higher sections to collapse.
This game is perfect for quick, local head-to-head sessions with a friend on the same computer. It runs directly in your web browser with no downloads or installation required.
