About Descent

Descent drops you onto a rock wall high above a canyon, and the only way down is to let go. Hold to push yourself off the surface, then release to let momentum carry you — while you're in the air you can't steer, so every jump is a commitment. Land against the wall and you're back in control, ready to time the next push before you run out of stone.

The wall isn't empty. Ledges, spikes and jagged outcrops jut out at every height, and clipping one ends the run. The skill is in reading the wall a beat ahead: judging how long to hold, when to let go, and which patch of rock is actually safe to land on. Runs are short, coins reward a clean descent, and the pull to beat your own distance is what keeps you climbing back on.

Controls

Hold the left mouse button (or press and hold on a touchscreen) to push off the wall. Release to fall. You have no control in mid-air — where you land depends entirely on the timing of that hold and release.

Tips

  • Short holds keep you close to the wall for tighter, safer landings; long holds carry you further but leave less room to react to what's below.
  • Look at the next stretch of wall before you jump, not the one you're standing on — you're always aiming at where you'll land, not where you are.
  • Losing a run near the top costs almost nothing, so use early attempts to learn the rhythm of hold-and-release before pushing for distance.

It's a quick, replayable skill game that suits short sessions — a few runs between tabs rather than one long sitting.

Descent FAQ

How do you control Descent?
Hold the left mouse button or press and hold on a touchscreen to push off the wall, then release to fall. You can't steer once you're airborne, so the hold-and-release timing is the entire game.
Why do I keep dying right after I land?
You lose the moment you touch a spike or a jagged ledge. Look ahead at the section of wall you're about to hit, not the one you just left, so you can judge whether it's clear before you commit to the push.
Does Descent work on mobile?
Yes. The wall-push mechanic works the same with a touchscreen tap-and-hold as it does with a held mouse click.
Is there a way to control distance while falling?
No — the length of your hold before release is what sets your trajectory. Once you've let go, you're committed until you touch the wall again.
